FMGxtreme
Iris Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti will be presenting its new project laboratory from 2-6 October, with a exhibition-event at its headquarters in Fiorano Modenese. FMGxtreme, the new project laboratory, in the hands of Luca Molinari, where the prestigious Iris Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti materials become protagonists in extreme versions of the most radical and advanced ideas in contemporary architecture.
Three really original and interesting interpretations have been created based on a common theme, this being interpreting the avant-garde visions and ideas of each creator in habitable micro-spaces (maximum size permitted is h.5m base 4x4), using eco-compatible materials:
Together with the exhibition, FMGxtreme will present three workshops:
• Tuesday 2 October: Edge Design Institute with Luca Molinari and Sara Banti (journalist of Casamica): The wall becomes a table, a chair, a temporary functional space, creating a body which moves and changes according to necessity, in constant mutation, eliminating the confines with regard to the concept of space. • Wednesday 3 October: LOT-EK with Luca Molinari and Matteo Vercelloni (journalist of Interni): Space is compact, a monolith crossed by a canyon, to ‘enter’ into the life of the material. • Thursday 4 October: Italo Rota with Luca Molinari and Giorgio Tartaro (journalist of the Italian broadcast Leonardo tv): the materials return to their origins. The marble and granite from Iris FMG are brought back to life in the “mineral” walls and in the central space which looks into the future through primitive eyes.
FMGxtreme: a real happening which was created from the motto ‘Transmitting Architecture’ chosen for the XXIII Congresso Mondiale dell’Architettura. The Congress, programmed in Turin in June 2008, promoted by the International Architects’ Union, will have Iris Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti as their main sponsor.
