Den-city: Living in Density
Works by: Metrogramma/Milan and Périphériques/Paris.
Milan, October 2007. Spazio FMG for Architecture (via Bergognone 27 – Milan) has celebrated the autumn season with the DEN-CITY exhibition, dedicated to a currently, very important theme: Density in the Metropoli.
The exhibition programmed from 19 october to 9 november, from Tuesday to Saturday from 3.00 pm till 8.00 pm, is by Luca Molinari and Nicola Russi and has displayed, for the first time, the works created by Périphériques in Paris and Metrogramma in Milan, two of the most interesting and evolved studios on the European scen at the moment.
Works exhibited
Metrogramma, recently nominated by the municipality of Milan as one of the consulting studios for the development plan of the city, presenting the project Domus Malles is not a simple residential building, but a building of high architectural quality, focussing on comfort in the homes.
Périphériques offers a post-modern, desecrated and ironic glance at the metropolitan dimension of living. On exhibition you'll find not projects, but documentations and images, witnessing to the French studio's experimental and provocative vision, who claims "the idea of homogeneous architecture today is the archetype of totalitarianism" Périphérique's works accentuate the discontinuity, the collage, the break, and builds inedited spaces, low budget, choosing contradictory, colourful and playful industrial materials, thought of for those who will live there, because the architect – once the space is occupied – disappears.
Aldo Rossi crowns his reflection on density and the complexity of large urban centre with La città analoga, a collective project in which Rossi, like an olden-day hero includes everyone and creates it involving designers/friends in the construction of a table which speaks of the huge complexity of the contemporary European city.
