Den-city: Living in Density
Works by: Metrogramma/Milan and Périphériques/Paris.

The exhibition, by Luca Molinari and Nicola Russi, has displayed, for the first time, the works created by Périphériques in Paris and Metrogramma in Milan, two of the most interesting and evolved studios on the European scen at the moment.
Villa Urbana Domus Malles by Metrogramma
Domus Malles is not a simple residential building, but a building of high architectural qualità, focussing on comfort in the homes, while containing the cost.
One of the main characteristics in this architectural complex is that of proposing liveable spaces which are not alike or repetitive modular apartments, in such a way as to create a wider range of real estate on offer. The 14 appartments created offer different models, each different from the other and are divided in three precise categories: Homes with gardens on the ground floor, on the first, second and third floors, apartments with balcony or terrace and on the fourth floor, attics with roof garden. All the windows are bow-windows, the result of accurate research, meriting a license by Metrogramma-Sogeca. Even the façade facing north is characterised by large windows showing a portion of the internal staircase, with the landing leading to the apartments. The heterogeneity of the façade and their accuracy in detail, highlight the meticulous variety in the internal conception. The result is a contemporary building in all aspects, which is able to blend into the pre-existent urban context with a balanced harmony, able to combine an elegant architecture with energy-saving. All this being eco-sustainable, to the point of being certified "casa–clima di tipo B".
Périphérique
"the idea of homogeneous architecture today is the archetype of totalitarianism" "On the one hand we refuse homogeneous architecture and urbanities as chosen democratically, on the other, lacking is the complete understanding of the meaning and value of words such as discontinuity, collage, breaks on all scales of the project. What interests us most in our work, seeing as we work in a situation which is dense and complex, is to try and accentuate this fragmentation, to understand the tensions created between different types of architecture in the city. (Périphérique)
The strategies activated by the Parisian studio have brought on the disappearance of the architect. The work and philosophy in Périphérique comes from the knowledge and acknowledgement of the two phases linked to architecture. On the one hand there is the condition seeing the architect constructing a story and strategy of his project. After which, when the building is completed and it's occupants have entered to live there, a new phase begins, a dimension in which the inhabitant transforms the designed space, using it and forgetting all the stories thought and dreamed of by the architect while planning. In this way the projects for Freaks Tower, Tree tower, Butterfly House, Villa Torpedo, Quartier Rex Pirotterie, Limoges 132 low energy housing, Maison MR, Maison Icone, Maison Go, La Chapelle Housing and Fayolle Housing were created. From the end of the 90's when the French group Peripheriques publicised two volumes they created, titled "Your house now" and "In-ex", the European debate on the home and the metropolitan dimension in constructing and designing low-budget housing has been enriched by the vital contribution full of desecrating irony.
