The exposition tells about one of the most interesting point of view in relation to changing of contemporary cities, pointing out the planning methods that can be used.
Luca Molinari the curator of the exposition states: “What are the elements that can reveal us the level of quality and development of a city? When does a citizen feel good in relation to a contemporary architectural project? The well-being and the happiness are nowadays considered to be an economic index as well as per capita income and investments done in the administration field during the year. The pleasure and the happiness are fundamental to develop a new relationship between the quality of planning and the improvement of public areas in cities”.
Among the most meaningful works there are:
· the winning project of an international competition for the conversion of the museum Arengario, one of the biggest contemporary art museum in Milan;
· the first project for the waterfront of Palermo regarding the restoration of the Foro Italico: a striking place that can be now lived day and night thanks to new green areas;
· the multimedia library of Sandro Penna at San Sisto (Perugia), a new urban centre named after the famous poet of Perugia for the suburbs. The building has a glass covering on three floors equipped with multimedia laboratories. At night it lights up.
· the multimedia library of Anzola dell’Emilia (Bologna): a building planned according to functionality and welcoming divided into small reading rooms which remind a living room. The children area is very important and it counts over 8.000 books.
Since several years Italo Rota has been engaged in the construction of a Hindu temple and in ground reclamation of a steelworks in order to create a parc in Mumbai, India. In exposition at Spazio FMG there is also draws of urban areas in Rouen, France.
The experience abroad of the Italian architect is a unique travel in the world of creativity, tradition and contemporaneity. An amazing travel that tells new realities and unknown spaces with a view on the future for the city of tomorrow.
“Spazio FMG per l’Architettura” is a cultural project of FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti and it represents a place where people can meet and discuss about architecture.
The exposition programm deals with three different themes: the great contemporary artists, the young designers and architects and meaningful projects about the living culture of today.
