07.05.2007 - Nuove verticali a Milano: 3 progetti di 5+1 AA, Archea Associati e Boeri studio

Spazio FMG for architecture, the new gallery inaugarated in April in via Bergognone 27, presents the exhibition "Nuove Verticali a Milano: tre progetti di 5+1 AA, Archea Associati e Boeri studio", by Luca Molinari and Nicola Russi, from the 1-30 June 2007 opening hours from 3-8pm weekdays only for further info tel. 02.89410320

The exhibition Nuove Verticali a Milano is the second appointment with Spazio FMG for architecture, the gallery and cultural programme sponsored by FMG Fabbrica Marmi e Graniti and realised with the help of the architect and critic,Luca Molinari in collaboration with Corriere della Sera.
Turin will host the XXIII World Congress on Architecture in June 2008, focusing on 3 aspects: Contemporary Masters, Young Emerging Masters, and projects like the above, that change the face of architecture and how it is done.

3 Towers for 3 prestigious Architectural Firms

The exhibition "Nuove verticali a Milano" shows the threes projects, three towers, in their final phase, designed by three contemporary architectural firms: 5+1 AA, Archea Associati e Boeri studio.
The towers will be constructed in three different points of the city:
the tower of 5+1 in the open, bordering the city and urbanised countryside. (Rozzano);
the tower of Archea in place of Montedison building in the Mac Mahon zone;
the Boer tower of Study in the area between the Island quarter and Garibaldi station

Three plans that have nothing in common between them other than that of being born in Milan for Milan

The tower by 5+1 AA gives the idea of enlarging the boundaries of Milan on the outer-ring road side where a 200m tower stands, a brilliant work of volume and perspective makes it a two-dimensional vision standing out in the skyline the sky like a horizontal tower.
The Tower by Archea and Associates replaces the Montedison offices with a plan that converses with the skyscrapers of Milan for excellence: the Velasca tower and the Pirellone. A sculptured figure with 4 roofs, 23 floors + 4 interiors with a total height of 94 meters. The decorative elements and work spaces will be realized in collaboration with artists, architects, photographers and designers.
The vertical Forest is instead the plan by the Boer firm, an important example of eco-sustainable architecture: two towers, 108 metres high with 23 floors, the other one, 78 metres and 21 floors, the one will house 900 trees six metres in height and shrubs for a surface totalling 7000 me of forest. This will create a microclimate, to produce humidity, to absorb CO2 and dust and to produce oxygen. On the outside of Ciascuna tower the realization of 22 aeolich structures is for seen, leaves of the parapets of the terraces will accommodate photo panels for a total surface of 500 mq. This will contribute to the micro air-conditioning factor and the auto-sufficiency in terms of energy for the towers.

"We have chosen these plans because they are three Italian answers very different to many of those offered by architects of international acclaim." explains Luca Molinari curator of the exhibition together with the young architect Nicholas Russi. "Not indifferent plans but rather answers to spaces themselves. Even if we have to use skyscrapers to mark the change that in itself will change the face of the city from not just an industrial one but a city with advanced services in keeping with the rest of Europe. New tall buildings to mark the modernity of the city, an anomaly for such a horizontal city in terms of buildings, although recent history has shown otherwise with the construction of the Velasca Tower and the Pirelli skyscraper.
These are the questions, this is the theme of the exhibition, "Nuove Verticali a Milano", an occasion to reflect and understand and discuss publicly the changes that are to come.
